The renowned female-run winery from Napa Valley, Spottswoode, adopted organic vitivulture in 1987. Since then, they translate the clay, loam soil into a refined, balanced cabernet sauvignon red characterised by the elegant flavor of dark fruit and the typical structure, just as the venerable Chateaux Margaux from Bordeaux as Robert Parker calls it. Graced by many perfect or close to perfect vintages, Spottswoode has gained a reputation rapidly among wine connoisseurs.

This is another killer effort from Spottswoode. Inky bluish purple to the rim, it has hints of violets intermixed with sweet foresty notes, blackcurrants, chocolate and a touch of subtle smoke and earth. It is dense, with higher acidity and more noticeable structure than the 2012 but is as concentrated... It is a 50-year wine at the very minimum and a great classic.
